Reboot Hack is the first ever student organized hackathon for students in Iceland. The hackathon will be held in the University of Iceland and the goal is to have over 100 participants. Hackathons have been missing from Icelandic culture. Reboot Hack aims to bring the hacker culture from Europe and America to Icelandic students.

Eligibility

Anyone over the age of 18 who is currently enrolled in a college or university (or within one year of graduation) is welcome to attend! Prior programming experience is not required to participate.

To be eligible for prizes, a team must be 2-5 people.

Requirements

Create your project, submit it to Devpost, and present it during the project presentations! You'll have to do all three to be eligible for prizes.

The project must somehow use or relate to technology.

How to enter

  1. Click “Register” to access the submission form and start your draft early.
  2. Visit the Resources page to learn more about the challenges and technology.
  3. Create a project that either is applicable to any of the challenges or something entirely new that uses technology in some way.
  4. Provide a good description of your project, team name and team members.
  5. If your solution contains code - provide a link to it.
  6. Submit before the deadline!

  • Reboot
    Are participants rethinking something common/known? Is technology being used in a new, uncommon way? Are participants using prior knowledge/experience to rethink something common/known?
  • Vision
    Is the project realizable and in line with current and future development of society? Is the project solving likely problems of the future? Is the project needed? Does it add value?
  • Innovation
    Does the project do something entirely novel? Does something similar and better already exist? Does the project take a fresh approach to an old problem?
  • Technology
    Is the technical solution made from scratch? What is the quality of the technical solution? Is a demo / prototype presented?
  • Pitch
    How well was the project presented? Did it give a good idea of the projects' purpose? How well do the participants answer questions?
